Upgrade to PHP 7.4 using the New Adobe Commerce Releases!
The next stage in the evolution Adobe Commerce is Magento ( , formerly known as Magento Commerce Cloud). We have successfully integrated our sales, marketing and product teams within Adobe Experience Cloud and aligned partner and developer experience efforts…unifying our two brands under one umbrella.
We also announced new capabilities for Adobe Commerce at this year’s Adobe Summit. Watch the replay of the “The New Commerce Imperative Summit” session to learn more about the latest commerce innovations at Adobe Summit.
Adobe Commerce 2.4.2-p1 & 2.3.7 are now available
Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source 2.4.2 -p1 are now generally available. A normal release cycle would include a feature release for the 2.4 line. However, these releases are focused on security updates and upgrading PHP 7.4.
Digital commerce emerged as the main driver of business growth in the wake the COVID-19 pandemic. With $861.12 Billion in sales in 2020, online commerce saw a 44% increase in traffic over 2019. It is more important than ever that you stay current and secure with your digital solutions due to increased reliance on online commerce.
To help merchants benefit from this growth, Adobe Commerce 2.4.2-p1 & 2.3.7 provide important security updates. 2.3.7 adds support for PHP 7.4 & in-product guidance, which was previously available in Adobe Commerce 2.4.2.
Important EOS Timelines
Reminder: PHP 7.3 will be out of support by December 2021 and Adobe Commerce 2.3.x will be out of support by April 2022. The new 2.3.7 release supports PHP 7.4 to bridge the gap. This will allow merchants full support of the PHP 2.3 line up until the EOS date in early-2022.
We strongly recommend that Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source.x users upgrade to PHP 2.4 and PHP 7.4 in order to maintain PCI compliance. This will also ensure the most cost-effective upgrade. The 2.3.7 version supports PHP 7.4 only in order to assist customers with PCI compliance. Customers can then upgrade to version 2.5. This guidance will be helpful as you talk with your team about your upgrade strategy.

- Privacy of Customer Support Data
Customer Engineering is reviewing the way we collect consent to access Customer Data in support requests. This new process will only allow consent to be given by the primary user of a Magento Customer profile. In a new section called Privacy Settings, the consent to data access will be centralized into account.magento.com. We are aware that not all users submit support tickets. To accommodate this, we offer the ability to grant Customer Engineering access for extended periods of time (1 week, 1 month, 1 year or unlimited). To avoid delays in the delivery of support services, consent should be given prior to creating tickets. The Primary User may withdraw consent to Customer Data at any time.
